The favourite addresses of Till-Holger Borchert
In the late Middle Ages, Bruges was a cosmopolitan city and a melting pot of goods and nationalities. Today too, Bruges keeps with the times and is still commercially and culturally prominent. Many foreigners feel at home here and have since become real Bruges experts. Their knowledge also includes the local range of good, established shops and trendy, young businesses.
Till-Holger Borchert , director-general of Musea Brugge and chief curator of the Groeninge Museum, lives in Brussels but works in Bruges. He is the author of countless publications on the Flemish primitives. This year, together with Michel Dewilde, he is curator of the 2018 Triennial. Here are his best addresses.
D's Deldycke traiteurs
In the 15th century, the Spaniard Pedro Tafur was already praising Bruges for its wide available selection of exotic fruits and rare spices. The Deldycke caterer is proud to continue this centuries-old tradition. Here, all your culinary wishes will be fulfilled.

Antiquariaat Van de Wiele
For art and history, I was fortunate enough to discover Marc Van de Wiele Antiques. This is undoubtedly one of the best addresses in a city that is rich in antique shops. The place to find unique, illustrated books from days long gone by.

Boekhandel De Reyghere
For all my other reading material I rely on De Reyghere, located on the Market Square. Foreign visitors feel instantly at home in this book and newspaper store, primarily because of the large number of international titles it has on sale.

Den Gouden Karpel
The fishing family Ameloot have been running Den Gouden Karpel with heart and soul for many years: not only an excellent catering service and fishmongers, but also a top-class fish bar, where you can enjoy the very best seafood (fruits de mer). For a fish-lover like myself, it is hard to walk past Den Gouden Karpel without stopping to buy something.

I always buy my socks at Parallax, but they are also experts at stylishly camouflaging my beer belly! Highly recommended for other fashion victims and the vestimentally challenged! Boss, Scabal, Zilton, Falke: you can find them all here.
