Raakvlak is the Intermunicipal Service for Archaeology in Bruges and the Surrounding Area. The service is currently active in Beernem, Bruges, Jabbeke, Knokke-Heist, Torhout, and Zedelgem. Its aim is to expand its operations to eventually cover the entire region.

The City of Bruges has placed its entire archaeology service, including staff, accommodation, and resources, at the disposal of the new association, and is its administrative municipality. Bruges’ archaeology service has therefore become an intermunicipal service.

Raakvlak is responsible more and more for advising on construction plans and striving to conserve archaeological heritage, but also for processing data on excavations and public works.
