symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast - Yves Gabriels
Death and impermanence are never far away. 'I am the surgeon in my anatomical theatre' states house artist Yves Gabriels. Yves grew up in his parents' butcher's shop among meat, bones and black pudding. Death and impermanence are never far away. It was his first laboratory and that works through to today, literally and figuratively. His universe is often chaotic, bursting with images and ideas that are never at all light-hearted. Experimentation is always central and for this he uses the iPad as a canvas and artificial intelligence as an ally. He satisfies the indomitable hunger for skin by using SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) to create skins. > evening opening on Saturday 16 September from 7 p.m. > the exhibition can also be visited on Sunday 17 September from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. > the central wall work by Yves Gabriëls can be visited until Friday 22 June 2024 > Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. > closed on public holidays
