NOLAND SUNN

Noland Sunn is a Ghent-based band around songwriter Rik De Maré. The group also consists of Hendrik Wijnant (guitar), Jonas Van De Velde(keys), Natan Goessens (drums) and Robbe Desmet (bass guitar).  The group Noland Sunn blends folk and psychedelica into its own sound.  Rik De Maré was a regular band member and multi-instrumentalist with Kiss the anus of a black cat. Since 2012, he has been working on his own repertoire, harking back to the music he learned to appreciate as a young man: blues, folk, but also singer-songwriters such as Nick Drake, Tom Waits, LeonardCohen, Wild Oldham, Elliott Smith and The Velvet Underground.  In recent years, Rik De Maré has been doggedly devoting himself to songwriting away from clichés, with a sound of his own and poetic lyrics. Noland Sunn recently released two singles, Memento Park and The Promise, and is working on a first album.
