Music

Bram De Looze - Piano, Jos Machtel - Double bass, Matthias De Waele - Drums
In recent years, jazz education in Belgium has been of a particularly high standard. However, talent is not made and pianist Bram De Looze, who was spotted at a very young age as one of the fine musicians who will determine the sound of Belgian jazz in the decades to come, proves it. For a year now, De Looze has been living in New York, where he is working his way among the international top. That did not prevent him from diligently looking for ways to express his creativity in his homeland. Parallel to the hip LABtrio, in which he presents mainly his own work, he now also takes a fresh dive into the repertoire of greats such as Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. He does so together with a young colleague and an éminence grise of the Belgian jazz scene.
Dutch bassist Jos Machtel has long been associated with the internationally acclaimed Brussels Jazz Orchestra. In his prolific career, he toured the world, living and working in cities such as Kansas and Madrid.
Drummer Matthias De Waele is what they call a late bloomer. Before studying music, he obtained his degree in Criminological Sciences. After his studies, he threw himself into his musical career and in no time at all developed into a solid jazz drummer, in the style of his great example Philly Joe Jones. Besides this trio, you can find him with promising young groups such as Trioxide and Phd.
