Bruges Triennial 2021

With the theme 'TraumA', in 2021, the Bruges Triennial explored the twilight zone between dream and trauma, between paradise and hell. Thirteen sculptural, architectural and organic creations together formed a journey behind the scenes of urban imagination. After all, Bruges is a dream destination for many, but behind this picture-perfect world, there is also latent poverty, loneliness and fear. The Bruges Triennial 2021 did not shy away from this side of Bruges – quite the contrary. The trail was complemented by the in-depth exhibition 'A Porous City', featuring work by more than 40 (inter)national artists, inspired by or fitting the theme 'TraumA'.
