Handmade in Brugge

Bruges is full of passionate and highly motivated creative spirits, who day after day prove that craftsmanship has a future and that Bruges’ craftsmanship is timeless. Modern-day artisans who produce their wares locally and by hand are recognized with the award of the Handmade in Bruges label. The Handmade in Brugge guide (available in Dutch, French, German and English and available for free from the tourist offices, the Sashuis en De Republiek) bundles together these ‘makers of things’, putting them both literally and figuratively on the map, allowing you to find your way with ease to one of their many stores or workshops selling handmade goods. And once you are there, you are almost certain to leave with an original, handmade gift – either for yourself or for your family and friends at home.

The Handmade in Brugge label recognises passionate and driven makers, who day after day add colour to Bruges with their craft.

Drop into the Sashuis, the headquarters of Handmade in Brugge. At this historic location in the tourism heart of the city, local Bruges craftspeople will showcase their goods. As well as space for exhibitions, workshops and lectures, there is also a shop selling traditional products and packages. The Sashuis also offers a departure point for an outlined walking trail which introduces you to the craftsmanship of the past and also to the many craft makers that are currently active in the city centre.
