The convent of the discalced Carmelites. The visitor tours focus mainly on the spirituality and lifestyle of the religious. Books are the common thread throughout the visit. Sacred Books opens up what remained closed until now. This unique initiative keeps religious heritage alive. A guide takes you on a tour of silence and spirituality. The Carmelite Monastery has an intact monastic library and an impressive refectory.

ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY
Efforts have been made at the monastery regarding accessibility. If you have accessibility requirements, we invite you to contact us before your visit (via peter@sacredbooksbruges.be) so that we can discuss them, make the necessary adaptations and provide assistance during your visit.
The monastery is wheelchair accessible. The library is on the first floor. There is only a staircase. In the refectory, a film is shown or a meeting is arranged with one of the Carmelites to visitors who do not go upstairs.
Adapted sanitary facilities are available.

groups (from 6 persons);
residents of Bruges.
The visit to the monastery takes place in a small group (maximum 8 people). A guide accompanies visitors along the experience trail through the monastery.
Visits that take place in the morning end with a meeting with a religious. During the tour, some scenes from religious life can be seen in Virtual Reality via a tablet provided.
Access Carmelite Monastery : Ezelstraat 28. Visitors using a wheelchair enter by car through the gate on Jan Boninstraat. They drive through the garden to the car park at the rear entrance where someone is waiting to assist them further. The surface of the car park is gravel. Wheelchair users coming on foot can use the access via Vinegar Street: the street is between Ezelstraat 22 and Ezelstraat 24, and there is a gate on the left in the street where someone will be waiting.
