A 'surprisingly ‘strokeable’ sculpture named ‘Untitled’ adorns the Groeninge Museum's courtyard garden. Fashioned from Carrara marble by the Uruguayan Pablo Atchugarry, the artwork plays with the contrast between open and closed, between light and shadow. Atchugarry himself calls his art an embrace between nature and the heavens. The world-famous artist, who had a survey exhibition in Bruges in 2006, is part of the fan club of the one and only Michelangelo Buonarroti. Indeed, his statue is a clear hint at the maestro's white marble ‘Madonna and Child’ in the Museum of the Church of Our Lady nearby. In this peaceful, intimate place, ‘Untitled’ really comes into its own.
