Once upon a time in Bruges, buffalo and bison were confused - the rest is history. Since then everyone in Bruges has known the Canada Bridge, flanked by two bronze bison, as the “Buffalo Bridge”. The bridge was erected after WWII and the bison are there to honour the Canadian liberators who entered the city by this route. A charging bison is the emblem of that regiment. So go hunting bison, and discover a forgotten corner of Bruges! Charming and little known.
