Stoofstraat (Stove Street)
An alley so narrow that you almost walk straight past: that’s Stove Street, where you can barely stretch out your arms. But in the 14th and 15th centuries, the atmosphere in Stove Street was steamy, to say the least. Here there stood a bathhouse where well-heeled gentlemen and traders came to bathe. And one thing led to another. Because of its bad reputation the bathhouse disappeared from the scene in the mid-16th century. Stove Street is now full of little boutiques and workshops, and even an outstanding restaurant.
