Kortrijk 1302 is an interactive and multimedia museum about the Battle of the Spurs (11 July 1302) for young and old alike. You are welcome to touch the chain mail, swords and Goedendags on display, you can see the protagonists of the conflict in action and you can follow the progress of the battle on a gigantic scale model. Narrator Gilles li Muisit, the old abbot of St Martin’s Abbey, will take you back to the past and is your guide on a fascinating voyage through seven centuries. To finish, you can watch a remarkable film which explains how the tradition around 1302 was built and its role in the development of a national consciousness.
