Kantwerkstersplein (Lace Makers’ Square)
The Lace Makers’ Square is the only uninhabited square in Bruges. Small but charming and an ode to Bruges’ hard-working lace makers, many of whom lived and worked here, in the city quarter of Saint Anne. During the 19th century in particular, they formed the hub of the Bruges lace industry. Ahead of you stands the Adornes estate with its striking Jerusalem Chapel, and around the corner you’ll find the Lace Centre, where lace-making is still taught today. Reasons enough to take a stroll through this photogenic working-class district.
